Second Life
In the digital world of “Second Life” millions of users where online at peak times. Everyone created an avatar for this world of bits and bytes. Many invented bizarre characters or equipped their avatar with jewelry, clothing or special shape. It all took a lot of energy. Personal energy, creative energy, partial monetary commitment or programming skills.
All this “fizzled out” in my eyes, on a server in San Francisco. I wanted to reverse that.
I created a simple avatar and portrayed other avatars I met in Second Life, by a screenshot. Then these portraits were printed out and shown in an exhibition in RL (real life).
The creative stream of energy found its way back into real life.
